Our desire is the creation of beautiful pianos, manufactured to the highest standards, full of unique qualities and exquisite sounds. This vision is made possible exclusively by paying attention to quality and having an eye for detail in every manufacturing step.
The manufacturing of acoustic pianos is an endeavor of astounding complexity. Much is said about the nearly 12,000 parts in a piano and rightly so. An incalculable amount of engineering time is required to make sure a piano action responds with high precision to the touch of an artist. However, the building of the case is made of many steps of equal importance and involvement. An impressive magnitude of knowledge and experience is demanded when making the right choice of woods, their drying time, their humidity content, etc. A piano builder is also expected to demonstrate a profound understanding of all elements of acoustics, cymatics, and musical aspects involved in tone formation in their relationships with the physical parts of the piano - string mass, hammer composition, shape, bridge tension, soundboard crown, among others. The EMMENFELD Piano company considers every single aspect of piano manufacturing as described above a sobering responsibility. We want every finished piano to be a true representative of marvelous sound and in the hands of great artists a generator of timeless beauty. Period.

There is a reason why the greatest manufacturers of the world provide top pianists a selection of instruments for their choosing before a concert or recital. No manufacturer in the world can build instruments that are clones of each other and truthfully say they play and sound exactly the same. In this regard EMMENFELD pianos are no different and we are aware of that. Our commonality with the world's top brands extends to the fact that regardless of each piano's individualities, they are all crafted to be magnificent musical instruments, to impress by their sound and projection and their responsiveness.
We love pianos and we know you love them too! We are delighted when people engage in fascinating talks about piano traditions, schools of playing and the greatest composers and artists of all time. The piano and its vast literature has been and will remain for centuries a catalyst of great musical creation. All of us at EMMENFELD want to be part of that conversation. We want our pianos to serve the artists well. You may have heard of how American pianos sound and feel different than European pianos, and even in Europe the different approaches to tone and touch. We think you shall agree that it is difficult to be everything for everybody! So many choices, so many tastes. We have nonetheless sought a piano that seduces and intrigues by its touch, responding with equal ease to the ppp and ff of a piece like Ravel's Gaspard de La Nuit; a piano with the ability to produce crisp and clear sounds as in Mozart's A-minor Sonata K.310 while also fully satisfying its dramatic content; a piano whose sonorities will fulfill the symphonic demands of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata; or the lyricisms of a piece like Schubert's Piano Sonata in B-flat Major, D.960. In essentia, we want the EMMENFELD to deliver, be it in perfect responsiveness to any Chopin Etude, be it in awashing an audience in the full sounds of any of Liszt's Etudes d'execution transcendante or concur with the idiomaticities of the full Rachmaninoff's repertoire.
